JARE-AWS dataset: Bias-corrected surface air temperature data (1993-2022)

The bias-corrected monthly mean surface air temperature dataset obtained from the historical observations of the automatic weather stations (AWSs) at Mizuho, Relay Station, and Dome Fuji. Multiple AWSs have been installed at these stations since the early 1990s, and observations have been continued for the past 30 years. Systematic errors in the AWS observations, such as a warm bias due to insufficient ventilation in the radiation shield, the non-adjustment of sensor height changes due to snow accumulation, and the offset due to sensor replacement, were quantified and corrected. After the corrections, multiple AWS records were integrated to create a monthly mean time series for each station from 1993 to 2022. The calculation of monthly means follows the data processing steps used for the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) Reference Antarctic Data for Environmental Research (READER) database (Turner et al., 2004).
